You want to know how I started with my first batch of chick hatchlings? I had a tiny heating pad for my neck, it is white and has a vinyl like feel to it. That is what I used to keep my hatchlings, my babies warm. Later on my husband bought me a nice heating pad, but it is a bit harder to clean because the black plastic is very hard to clean. I have meanwhile three incubators and two with turners and several brooders and cages for all stages.
But let me tell you, if I would have known that these instruments heating plates exist I would have spend $20 more and had me the perfect solution to keeping my little angels warm. One time I even used a duster and taped it to two cans one on each end on top of the neck pad and they actually loved it, it felt like feathers, like mommy. But after a few weeks and another batch one got stuck with his foot in the material and that worried me so the below brooder heating plates for poultry is absolutely fantastic where the little ones can go under mommy when they want to and feel safe and warm.
All of them will work in the long run, but I always think what is the closest thing to nature? And the ones where the chicks can go hide under seems the most logic ones for me don't you agree?
