This Page is solely to remember the lost, the taken and the once long gone chickens we loved so dearly and don't wish to part!  So feel free to email me your story about your loved one with her or his name, what breed, a photo and I will place it on this special resting place for all to see and cherish the memory.

I will begin with some of my best friends.

My favorite: CREAMY, the Buff Laced Polish Hen she was about 3 months old at the time of the picture. I had purchased 4 Buff Laced Polish chicks 2 days old from Rual King, and 3 died right away. Shortly after this picture was taken, so did Creamy, I found her on the coop floor one morning not too long ago. My heart is still fluttering seeing her picture that is probably why you see her in several other posts, because she was so special to me. She was not very attached like some of the others but I loved her just the same. I miss her and will be looking for another Buff Laced Polish Chicken and name her Creamy as well to always remember her sweetness and beauty. Liane S. Page, Florida 2022
This is COCKY, a Dominique, she was the most sweetest chicken and had the second softest feathers of all my chickens. We purchased her as a two day old chick from Rual King in Ocala, as a rooster, for my husband, we only wanted one rooster (but that's another story), but it turns out she was a hen after all. Thank goodness. She acted very domineering with the chickens that arrived after her, she was the second in command. She laid beautiful beige eggs and was very protective of her nest turn. She talked a lot with me and listened to my Tammy song all the time. She was so lovable and was always the first on my lap whether I had treats or not. She could sit for hours and just rest, talk, or sleep while I petted her. She was beautiful. The old raccoon was hungry one night and dug a hole under the coop somehow and got in and killed a few of the adult hens and Cocky was among them. Rest in Peace my lovely one, you are missed, but not forgotten my heart! Liane S. Page, Florida 2021
This is my beautiful boy, Carlos, a Serama rooster, he was almost 2 years old. He passed away quickly and unexpectedly leaving behind four grieving hens and a 9 week old chick (think he was a boy). One day I noticed Carlos’s comb was floppy and he was sluggish, so I isolated him and gave him some sav-a-chick. Unfortunately, he was dead in a matter of hours.
Carlos was the perfect rooster. He was a great protector and loving father. He always ensured his girls ate before he did and let them snuggle up underneath him. This handsome gentleman will always be in our hearts. Farra Ally, Florida 2022
Golden Retriever
I remember Bertha with fondness and great memories. She was the survivor of my neighbor’s Golden Retriever attack that killed all my other birds except her. Yes, I “talked” to the neighbor who said NO WAY would his sweet dog do that. I told him to go look at the blood and feathers on his dog. I then told him if I EVER saw his dog on my property again I would shoot her. No more dog problems. She was a very sweet, friendly bird. She loved following us around when we were digging post holes-she knew we’d find worms for her. Bertha lived to be 9 years old and passed away in my arms. Susan Connor, Texas 2022
CREAMY II
Creamy II was so sweet, as soon as I bought her from Helmut, a chicken keeper of 200, sold her to me for $15. There were 3 in the cage, one cockerel and two pullets, Creamy II had the prettier crest of the two. I held her in my arms and she didn't move much and was so calm. So I asked him how come, if he tamed her, and he said he never touches any of his chickens that he has over 200 and no time. So I took the sweet thing home, but after the first night I knew something was off and realized the second day she was gone for 3 days. I luckily found her again, but realized why she was lost. She was almost blind or cross-eyed. She couldn't hit a grain if her life depended on it and at the end it did. I was thinking abut returning her, but felt if I did she would surely not receive any love and attention with Helmut so I made the decision to take care of her until the inevitable. August 31, 2022, then at noon time I noticed that Creamy didn't get out of her box where she sleeps at night and looked closer. And just yesterday I discussed with my husband to letting her out to have a bit of freedom until a hawk can get her so she doesn't have to suffer anymore and her body would be useful and not be wasted. Her poor body was breathing very fast and heavy, I have seen that sign before and knew she doesn't have much longer. I meant to get the camera to take one last picture, but I got distracted with picking up things here and there and a few minutes later I got outside with a towel to hold her for a bit until she passes, she was already gone. She will be missed so much, every single night I held her for a couple of hours on the couch and caressed her while she loved cherries and strawberries the most, but what a mess and my poor fingers, because her aim missed at least six times until she really got a bite and that with my help. She was one of a kind and will be dearly missed and remembered forever. LIANE S. PAGE, FLORIDA 2022
