Farmer John was getting ready to retire. He had been a farmer his whole life, and he was looking forward to spending his golden years in the sunniest place on earth: Hawaii. But before he could sell his farm and move to the islands, he had to take care of one last thing: are the chickens safe?
He gave all of them to his best friend Big Freddy. The chickens had been part of the farm for as long as Farmer John could remember, and they were part of the family.
When Farmer John arrived in Hawaii, he was amazed by the beauty of the island. He spent every day exploring different parts of the island. One day, he came across another Farmer Aloha who was raising chickens. Aloha told him about the best chickens feed and how they should be kept healthy in Hawaii.
Farmer John was surprise to see all these chickens and ducks together and wondered hmm, can ducks live with chickens? Farmer John admired especially the blue chicken breed his new friend had. Aloha actually lend him books on Chickens for beginners and Chicken coops for beginners, boy was he happy he used and enhanced upon the books.
Farmer John had no idea it could get cold in Hawaii. It was the middle of winter and the chickens were getting a bit chilly, and farmer John was having a bit of a dilemma.
His chickens were refusing to go back into their coop so how do you get chickens back into the coop he asked? They were happy and healthy out in the open air, but it was getting colder and colder each day. What could he do to get them to go back inside where it will be warmer he even got some battery power little heaters for emergencies and to opening the door in the morning?
He knew that he needed to do something to keep them warm. Looking after chickens in winter time is an argues task to say the least. He could have just put them in the coop, but he wanted them to be happy too. So he came up with a plan.
He got his tractor supply, finally fixed his old, rusted, red tractor and filled it with hay. Then he set up a pen for the chickens and created the pig housing area with a pig fencing idea with some old smaller trees he had behind the house to run around in.
Now that the shelter for pigs is completed he made sure that they had plenty of food and water, and then covered the pens with a waterproof green tarp so they would stay warm. So don't leave the door open.
